While most of its fame is derived from athletic success (its football program has been involved in three of the last six national championship games, while its gymnastics teams has won four out the last five national titles), the University of Oklahoma is has been just as successful in the academic sphere. Not only has OU been ranked as one of the best educational values by the Princeton Review, it ranks in the top 5 of all public universities in terms of the number Rhodes Scholars it has produced. OU also sponsors the Neustadt prize for literature, which is second in prestige only to the Nobel.
Of the 30,000 students attending the University of Oklahoma, the vast majority of them are situated at the flagship Norman campus. Norman is a traditional college-town, with tree-lined streets, parks, coffee shops, restaurants, and cultural amenities. It also houses several university-connected museums, including the Fred Jones Jr. ArtMuseum, which contains the Weitzenhoffer Collection of impressionist paintings, the most important collection of its kind owned by an American university. OU offers numerous programs spread across 15 colleges. It is perhaps best known for its programs in law, petroleum engineering, architecture, meteorology, and geology. The Price College of Business, however, has recently benefited from a series of highly effective improvements and has become a nationally respected institution of business education. Price has been recently ranked in US News and World Report's list of the top 50 business schools in America and its MBA program is ranked in the top tier of graduate-level institutions. Price also prides itself on offering a great value. In an innovative study conducted by Forbes magazine that ranks business school educations in terms of long-term returns on investments in schooling, OU has come out in the top 50. Part of the reason for the overall quality of Price College is that its classes are taught by experienced professionals in their field. These teachers have both theory-based knowledge and practical real-world experience. Price's reputation is the reason why it can boast of having so many business and internship contacts.
Another wildly successful career-oriented program at OU is in Health Sciences. The Health Science program is grounded in the OU-Oklahoma City campus, which has a Health Sciences Center that groups together seven health-related colleges. The faculty at OU realizes that careers in health care are amongst the fastest growing in the country and consequently provide programs in wide scope of healthcare fields, including public health, allied health, nursing, and pharmacy.
